A village resort full of charm, Cauterets offers many different styles of glide thanks to its two ski domains : The Cirque du Lys, a large area dedicated among others to the new practices warrants a quality snow cover all along the season and technical pistes for experienced sportsmen. A paradise for downhill skiing amateurs and snowboarders ! The Pont d'Espagne, a breathtaking site nestled in the very heart of the Pyrenees National Park unfolds its splendour in a preserved surrounding for lovers of cross-country skiing, snowshoe hiking or even luge.
The "after skiing" pleasures can be enjoyed all along the streets and through the numerous activities offered by the Cauterets village: sport, fitness, playful and cultural activities for children and grown-ups.

Piste Info

21 pistes including 4 green, 7 blue, 7 red, 2 black served by 2 telecabin, 4 chair lifts (among which 1 declutching one) and 6 ski lifts - 1 snow-park: an area open to everyone for all types of glide - 1 slalom stadium -3 area freestyle-1 beginners carpet- 4 ski schools - 1 high-altitude restaurant - 1 heated picnic room - 1 locker. Access to the Lys domain using the Lys telecabin at the middle of the village or the Courbet telecabin at 5 km from the village.

Handiski

The Cirque du Lys pistes are accessible from the village by the Lys telecabin or at 5 km by the Courbet telecabin. An indoor city car park is located in town center. The 3 ski schools have offices in the village or directly on the pistes. A high-altitude restaurant called « Le Carrousel » and a heated picnic room present an easy access.

Children

Since 2004, Cauterets is "Station Kid" labelled and is committed to abide to 6 quality criteria for welcoming children and their family: specific and adapted activities, a personalised welcome, adapted equipments, permanent security and a real respect for the environment.
A booklet dedicated to children and called "mon Kid Touristique" lists all the activities meant for them all year round.

Street park Omnisport stadium at the nature theatre. Multimedia area in the Library. The Carrousel in the village : an old merry-go-round from the fifties.

Citycab Shuttle (0,50€) serves lys telecabin and most of the districs (school holidays and week end).

Main events

Christmas and New Year weeks: many surprises and activities for young and older ones. New Year Eve’s evening at the ice rink with fireworks.
December 29th: World Snowboard Day, international snowboard celebration, on the HO5 freestyle in the Lys amphitheater.
February 6th and 7th: Pyrenees Snowboard Tour, Slope Style French Cup organized at the Lys amphitheater to celebrate the sport’s Pyrenean elite.

Access

2 car parks for mobile home spots (in the entrance of the city and on the road of Pont d'Espagne) with 50 spots mobile home park. Winter caravanning park + camping-cars spots at the camp site in Les Glères.
By road : Highway until the Tarbes exit, then 4-lane road up to Argelès-Gazost and finally a main road. From Bordeaux (278 km), from Paris (894 km), from Nantes (602 km), from Toulouse (204 km).
Railway station : Lourdes at 30 km (TGV) then a shuttle at each train arrival up to Cauterets.
Airport : Tarbes-Lourdes-Pyrénées at 35 km, Pau at 80 km, Toulouse 204km.
