- The Pic de Pan
Doesn’t this little prominent summit which dominates the val d’Azun wear the prettiest name in the Pyrenees ? That remains to be seen… on the other hand it is surely the one which offers to children (from 6 on) their greatest sensations. Just imagine that to climb up its final ridge you will have to « use your hands »! A delight for children and plenty of wonderful landscapes and the promise of a good day for parents. Did you know it ? Ramond de Carbonnières (1755-1827) talked of the val d’Azun as being « the Eden of the Pyrenees. » Walking time : 1h45. Described in« La nouvelle rando, de Lourdes à Cauterets et Gavarnie », Editions Cité4. - The Ets Lits circus
Between Luz and Gavarnie and accessible to almost everyone, as it doesn't imply any orientation problem, nor any huge effort, lies one of the jewels of the Pyrenees... How such a beautiful amphitheatre, such a rare site may have succeeded in remaining out of all the pyreneist literature and often to be so absent from modern topoguides is a mystery. Did you know it ? Lit is the Pyrenean name for the avalanche. It can be found in various forms Lits, Lis, Liz, Lita, Llesse, Llisse. Walking time : 3h30. Described in the « Guide Rando Néouvielle », Rando Editions. |
